An 8-1 victory against Harborne Stores guaranteed Midland Red retained their Harborne 401 Summer League division one title. D.Bourne hit a maximum for the “Reds”. Also hitting 180’s were M.Willis (Highlander) and R.Taverner (Bartley Green Social Club), the former winning the fixture 7-2. Raven’s T.Parsons was another player to find the three treble twenties as his team, the Raven accounted for the George, with a close 5-4 verdict.
Hobsons Choice are division two champions following their 6-3 result at the Village Stump.

The Harborne and District Winter League will be holding their AGM this coming Sunday at league headquarters, the Hillyfields, Quinton Road, Harborne at 11.00am. Reigning champion of the Minworth Social Individual League, Mark Hollyoake, got this week’s fixtures off to a good start when he beat Steve Cain 2-1. However, he then lost by the same margin to John Ainsworth and as a result he hangs on to second place behind Peter Allen, but is now eight points adrift. Allen made now mistakes in his games with Paul Chick and Richie Shenton as he rattled off 3-0 wins against both players. Lesley Newcombe recorded a terrific straight 3-0 win over David Thomas to maintain her position around mid-table.

John Ainsworth was again the man doing the damage in the Sportsmans Rest Double Top League. Third in the table Ainsworth took on leader Peter Allen and the outcome was a high scoring affair in which both players hit two maximums, but the all-important 2-1 result was in favour of Ainsworth, who still remains sixteen points behind Allen, David Platt is second on 205 points, eight fewer than the leader.

Fastest game of the week in the Sheldon and District Summer League was supplied by group two’s R.Dale (Malt Shovel). Playing at the Dovecote, Dale hit 125,140 and 100, then with his tenth dart sealed his win on double eighteen, his team...they won 6-2.
In group one Three Horse Shoes chalked up an 8-0 whitewash at home to the Raven while group three’s Sheldon Social handed out the same fate to Shard End RBL Flights.

There were emphatic wins for Saltley Flights and Red Devils Club in the semi-finals of the Small Heath Summer League’s KO Cup. Saltley beat Black Horse 8-1, while Devils went one better and took out Ward End Ex Service Club 9-0. In the Upside Down Cup semi’s Custard House ‘B’ got the better of their ‘A’ side with a 6-3 result and Sheldon Heath Flights just got the 5-4 edge on Gables Tavern.

Despite suffering a 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Black Horse, Shannons remain top of the Camp Hill Summer League. Although this was Shannons first reversal of the campaign they still have a four point’s advantage over their nearest rivals Red Devils and Black Horse.

A 6-2 victory at the Gate Inn extended Red Lion A’s unbeaten run to twelve games in the Longwood Summer League. Lion now are two points clear of both Queens Head and White Lion with a game in hand. White Lion lost ground as the best they could do was draw 4-4 with Plough and Harrow.

A couple of league’s on the lookout for new teams to join them in their next campaigns are the Small Heath League and the Camp Hill and District League. A meeting for the former will be at the Custard House, Blake Lane, Bordesley Green at 11.00am on the 8th September and for the Camp Hill League at the Railway Club, Bolton Road, Small Heath on 22nd September, again at 11.00am.

Gail Marshall was the toast of Warwickshire Super League team Leamington Sureway as she was the player to record the fourth and decisive win to give her team a 4-3 win in the final of the regional play-off of the BDO British Champions Cup at the Belgrave Sports and Social Club, Tamworth.
West Midlands won the men’s event with a 7-2 success over Oxfordshire. Both winning teams will now play in the grand finals at Lakeside this coming Sunday.
