Greenlands with an 8-1 victory over Travellers Rest remain undefeated in division two of the Harborne 401 Summer League. Helping Greenlands to their success was W.Wallace who scored a maximum. In the same division Stonehouse were also 8-1 victors in their encounter at the Golden Cup and it was J.Smurthwaite who was their top man with an excellant 150 game shot. Highlander with a 180 from R.Atkinson proved to be too good for Green Man, running out 6-3 winners.

Red Lion turned on the style in division one chalking up a 7-2 win away to the Hillyfields. Beeches were top scorers in the third division beating Raven Ladies 7-2, Punchbowl and Harborne Stores recorded 6-3 wins against respective opponents Full Moon and Bear and Staff.

The Harborne and District Winter League are still handing out an open invitation to all teams, both old and new, to attend their A.G.M. The meeting will be held at league headquarters, the Hillyfields, Quinton Road, Harborne, on Sunday 6th June, commencing at 11-00am.

For more information please contact either Mr Joe Holloway on 0121-477-9389 or Arthur Woollaston who can be reached on 0121-476-1233.

For the second successive week Silver Wings, who were in strong contention for the runners up spot in the Forest of Arden Winter League, have lost. After finishing on the wrong side of an 8-1 scoreline against Mackadown Social last week, Wings went down at Hobs Meadow Mixes by 5-4.

No change at the top as leaders Red Arrows continue their flight course for the championship with a 6-3 win at Sheldon Ivy Leaf.

On the individual scene Cliff Davies (Heart of England) recorded a 160 break as his team went down 5-4 at home to Hunters Moon. Mackadown Social’s D.Whing had a ten darts game in his side’s home win over Harvester.

The Sheldon Ivy Leaf was the setting for the league’s Mixed Doubles Knockout, which attracted an encouraging 41 entries. In the semi finals B.Powell / W.Mathews (Hobs Meadow) defeated T.Flood / R.Heaven (Mackadown Social) and L.Wall / L.Wheeler beat Red Arrows pairing J.Hall / C.Hall to set up an all Hobs Meadow final.

Both duo’s impressed in the final. But, as always there can only be one winner and that honour went to Beattie Powell and Wayne Mathews with Lesley Hall and Les Wheeler taking the runners up trophy.

Selly Park, hold pole position in the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League. However, this week they slipped up as they lost by the narrowest of margins, 11-10 to Sheldon. Northfield, in second place, gained ground on the leaders as they romped home 17-4 against bottom of the table Perry Barr, leaving them on 56 points, just 10 adrift of Selly Park. In the mid table tussle between Handsworth and Ward End, the former just edged the result 11-10.

Joyce Webster appears to have regained the form that won her the Birmingham Ladies Double Top League title last season. After a somewhat shaky start to the new campaign, Joyce has now settled down, and her latest two 3-0 results against Pat Bradshaw and Jean Cotton have seen her amass 30 points, four more than her nearest rival, Janet Dudley. Janet followed a 2-1 win over Julie James with a 3-0 verdict against Jeanette James. Jeanette, one point behind Janet, suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Janet Dudley, then bounced back to reverse that scoreline against Marie Glasgow.
