Hillyfields representatives S.Pasetti and M.Lyden are the new doubles champions of the Harborne 401 Summer League. The duo were made to fight all the way for the title. In the quarter finals they took on R.Kinsella and M.Littleford and won through with a 2-1 scoreline. They then won the semi-final by the same margin against P.Brotherton and G.Smith to earn a final placing against Raven’s B.Davenport and J.Good, who they defeated 2-0.

Peter Allen reduced the arrears in on Mark Hollyoake at the top of the Minworth Social Individual League when he beat John Ainsworth 2-1 and Hollyoake went down by the same score to Derek Fardon. Mark, having played 24 games has 101 points to Peter’s 93 from 22 games. In his win Allen scored two maximums against Ainsworth. Also finding the top score were Steve Cain, Steve Shenton, Vicky Byrne, Colin Farrington, John Ainsworth and Carl Betteridge.

Peter Allen leads the field in the Sportsmans Rest Double Top League, his latest 3-0 win over Kevin McGuigan giving him a total of 169 points, six more than his nearest rival David Platt with a game in hand. Platt lost ground as he finished on the wrong side of a 2-1 tussle with John Ainsworth. However, it was not all good news for Allen as he lost 4-3 to Derek Fardon in the second round of the league’s singles knockout. Jim Frost and Barry Stephens move into the next round as a result of their respective 4-3 and 4-2 wins over John Morris and Dawn Barnes.

Queens Head had their two points lead at the top of the Longwood League cut in half as they could only manage a 4-4 draw at home to the Railway Inn. Second in the table Dolphin recorded an emphatic 6-2 win against fourth placed White Lion. Nevertheless, Queens Head still have the advantage of having played one fixture less than Dolphin.

The Delegates Knockouts have been on the agenda for the Small Heath League. Winner of the Group One competition was Dave Parsonage (Black Horse) who defeated Terry Walton (Saltley Flights) in the final. Group Two’s title went to Colin Wyatt, who represented Custard House ‘B’. Top scores of 180,170,140,127 and breaks of 120 and 100 gave Wyatt the verdict over Gerry McCormack (Saltley Flights). Another Custard House ‘B’ player, Allan Wilcock took the Group Three title with a final success over Peter Yardley from the Black Horse.
The ladies knockout, believe it or not, was yet another success for Custard House ‘B’, when Vicky Hanlon won against Jean Forde form the Red Devils Club.

The Aston Darts League will be holding their AGM at the King Edward, Lichfield Road, Aston on Sunday 1st September.
