The Forest of Arden Winter League has been busy with cup games. First the semi-finals of the Presidents Cup, which saw current league leaders Red Arrows record a narrow 5-4 victory over Stechford Social. Arrows opponents in the final will be Hobs Meadow Mixes, who also won 5-4 in their tie with Cock and Hens, R.Taylor notching a maximum for the Mixes.
The Consolation Cup is at the quarter final stage. Farringdon Social had a bye into the semi’s, while all four of the fixtures played ended with 5-4 scorelines. Harvester, Hobs Meadow and Mackadown Social each won in turn against Solihull Borough Flights, Highwood and Old Bill and Bull.

Peter Allen lost valuable ground in the race for the Minworth Social Individual League title this week when he went down 2-1 to Rob South. Leader Tony Randell continues to set the pace with a 3-0 win over Derek Fardon, followed by a 2-1 success against Tony Whitehouse to give him a total of 114 points from 28 games. Second placed Mark Hollyoake is catching up on outstanding fixtures and played three games this week. He chalked up 2-1 wins against Steve Davis, Pat Koyce and John Ainsworth to leave him just seven points adrift of Randell with three games in hand. Hollyoake’s match with Koyce was a cracker in which he hit two maximum’s and recorded an eleven darts leg, Koyce also hitting a 180.
Other players finding the three treble twenties were Steve Davis, Richie Shenton, Pat Koyce, Mick Bagley, Gordon Clinton and Alan Mayell. Steve Davis was certainly on the mark with his finishing doubles when he took on Richie Baker, he had outshots of 150 and 160 to win 2-1.

St Annes consolidated their number one spot in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League with a last gasp 5-4 victory over Saltley Amateur Gardeners. Gardeners after trailing 4-2 fought back to level terms only to see anchor man Colin Henn decide the issue for St Annes with an eight darts leg. Fordbridge kept up the pressure on the leaders with their 5-4 win at Brook Meadow, Tony Whitehouse (180) and Paul Burnham (160 break) helping Fordbridge to their win, while Meadow’s Robbie Earl also had a 160 break.
In division one Sheldon Heath Dukes made it sixteen wins in as many games when they accounted for their nearest rivals, Hobs Meadow, with a 6-3 result. Third in the table Shard End Social Flights were on the receiving end of a shock 5-4 defeat, Punch Bowl their victors. The Dovecote, for the fourth time this season came back from a 4-1 deficit to claim the 5-4 win, Glebe community Centre the unlikely losers.
British Telecom Club took another step closer to the division two title with their 5-4 home over the Millhouse.

Congratulations to the Hurst Hill Tavern, who in the final of the Bedworth Gateway Open Men’s competition came back from 3-0 down and within one leg of defeat against the Coach and Horses from Bristol, to win 4-3 and lift the title.
The ladies crown went to the Netherfield Inn from Milton Keynes, they beat the Air Balloon Tavern (Bristol) 4-3 in the final. Margaret Nash clinched the victory with her 2-0 win over Sonia Tibbatts in the last game of the match.
