Midland Red made it ten wins in as many games in the Harborne and District Winter League when they won 7-2 in their away game against New Inns. With a total of 20 points the Reds are four ahead of both the George and Smethwick Labour Club, the latter winning their away game against bottom of the table Quinton Members Club Flights 7-2. However, both George and Smethwick have only played eight fixtures and have two in hand on the leaders. Forth placed Quinton members Club are another undefeated team and although six points adrift of the leaders have a massive three games in hand.
In the other matches J.Coggins (Stonehouse) hit a maximum in his side’s 7-2 home win over Hillyfields, while Raven won 6-3 at Avenue Social and Bartley Green Social Club won their home tie with Thurlestone 5-4.

The Four Oaks and District League have been engaged in their singles competition, the Dereck Masters Trophy sponsored by Central Container Services. The event was staged at two venues, the Barn Social and Red Lion. In the semi-finals at the Barn J.Collins (Bromford Lions) beat Red Lion’s D.Bond 2-0 and from the other half of the draw Sportsmans Rest man A.Stainfield, with a 160 break beat D.Wallace (Deer’s Leap) in two straight legs despite Wallace notching a 180. The final was another 2-0 result with A.Stainfield getting the verdict.
At the Red Lion C.Millward (Boot Flights) was beaten 2-0 by Anvil Nomads player P.Allen. Facing Allen in the final was J.Morris from the Sportsmans Rest who with a 2-1 scoreline took out A.James (Midland Red). James hitting a maximum in his defeat.
In the final P.Allen beat J.Morris 2-0 and will now face A.Stainfield on finals night.

A final reminder that there is a guaranteed figure of £500 on offer for the winner of the Darts Knockout at the Tipton Sports and Social Club, Sedgley Road East, Tipton, West Midlands being staged by John Jones on Saturday 30th December. In addition there will be prize money down to the final eight contestants.
Players will be able to enter the knockout up until 12.30pm on the day, but the entry fee will be increased to £7.00 as opposed to £5.00 for entrants before the actual day. All cheques should be made payable to Tipton Sports and Social Club.
