There was a vital top of the table clash in the Four Oaks and District League between Midland Red and Good Hope Flights Prior to the encounter both teams were undefeated in five with only average separating them. With home advantage and a 160 break from P.McManus Good Hope rattled off a 6-3 win, which now sees them take over pole position with a two points lead on the Red’s who drop down to second place. Another player to record a 160 break was A.Stainfield (Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s) as his side won 8-1 against bottom of the table Boldmere Sports, whose C.Henn ahd a 16- checkout.

West Midlands made it two 20-16 wins in a row as they travelled to take on Wiltshire in their latest division three fixture in the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships. It was wins all round except for the men’s ’A’ side who lost 10-2, the ’B’ winning 9-3. Both ladies teams won the ’A’ 5-1 and the ’B’ 4-2. Taking the match awards were Ian Jones, 31.31 (’A’), Mick Noakes 25.09 (’B’), Sara Jukes 18.42 (’A’) and Leanne Jennings 16.70 (’B’).

The Brook Meadow Individual League has a new leader. Jason Evans with 3-0 wins over last seasons runner up Robbie Earl and Darren Elkin has given Evans a total of 18 points, three more than his nearest rival, reigning champion Mark Birch. Birch surprisingly lost his most recent game against Keith Kelly 2-1 despite hitting 180,140 and 3x100’s compared to Kelly’s lack of three figure scores. Evans is now the only remaining player with a 100 win record.

The Sheldon and District Winter League have been engaged in the first round of their Punch Bowl. Biggest win of the round went to Saltley Amateur Gardeners who handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Willclare Sports and Social. B.Rose was in fine form for Malt Shovel as he recorded a nine darts leg breaking with 101, scoring 100 and finishing with 100 as his team won 6-3 against Shard End Social whose S.Glynn hit a maximum. Other players to register a 180 were J.Morrissey (Shard End RBL ’A’) and C.Willmot (Farringdon Social). Joining Saltley and Malt Shovel in the hat for the draw for round two will be, Fordbridge Social, Stechford Social, Mackadown Social, Sheldon Heath Social, Sheldon Dukes, Brook Meadow, Vaughans, Yardley Ex Service Colts, Banbury Club, Farringdon Social and Raven.

Bromford Bridge Members Club ‘A’, continue to enjoy the luxury of a two points advantage at the top of the Small Heath following a 6-3 win at Victoria 301 Club. Second placed Mitre kept the pressure on the leaders with their 8-1 victory over Innisfree, who are third and a further two points adrift.

The Tamworth Cue Sports League have been busy with their Open Cup Competition. In group one the quarter finals saw the Globe and Queens’A’ win through to the semi’s with respective wins over Red Lion ’B’ and Cue Sports Club, while in group two it was White Lion and Royal oak who made the last four at the expense of Mercian and Three Horse Shoes. The semi finals and final will be played off on the 2nd March at the Pip Club.
