Wernley with a 6-3 win at the Red Lion maintained their 100% record in the premier division of the Harborne and District Winter League.Both M.Best and G.Roberts, of the Raven hit maximums, but nevertheless their team went down by 8-1 at the Cricketers whose T.McDonnell also hit a 180.

In division one Avenue Social won their first game of the current campaign, a 5-4 result at Bartley Green Social Flights. Golden Cup, Beeches and Hillyfields ‘A’ all recorded similar 5-4 wins at the expense of the Brook, Plough and Weoley Castle.

Stonehouse, unbeaten in division, two proved too good for the Vine as they romped to a 7-2 success. W.Godwin (Travellers Rest) chalked up a 155 game shot. However his team lost their home fixture against Village Stump 6-3.

Selly Park have increased their lead at the top of the Irish Centre Four a Side Ladies League to six points as a result of their latest 13-8 victory over Sheldon. As is usually the case Selly Park’s top player was Lesley Newcombe who hit an amazing TEN scores of 100. Northfield, in second place with 71 points, had an 11-10 win against Perry Barr while Handsworth won 14-7 at the expense of Ward End, with Claire Barber and Sheila Barratt the respective teams top scorers, both hitting five tons each.

St Annes gained an impressive 8-1 away win over Stechford Social in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. Helping St Annes to their win were J.Dunn with a 180, C.Henn who had a 152 break plus M.Allen who not only recorded a 142 break but also chalked up a nine darts leg. A.Mayell (Bradford Arms) was another premier division player to hit a maximum as his team accounted for Smiths Wood with a 5-4 scoreline.

In division two Lyndon Arms man D.Farndon got off to a fine start breaking with 160 as his team went on to win 5-4 against Lyndon Arrows. Glebe had a similar marginal victory over Hobs Meadow in the third division, P.Byrne hitting the three magical treble twenties in this encounter.

In the Forest of Arden Winter league Hobs Meadow and Silver Wings, both who had lost just one game in the current campaign, met in the latest round of fixtures. Despite being the home team Hobs were a player short and the tie went to the very last game of the evening. Nevertheless, anchor man Les Wheeler played a real captains game, coming up trumps with a 2-0 victory to seal a 5-4 win for the hosts. During the match Wings player John Warner recorded a 160 break.

Harvester man Warren Clarke hit a maximum in his team’s 7-2 win at the Heart of England.

The draw for the league’s Presidents Cup quarter finals is Harvester v Sheldon Ivy Leaf, Mackadown Social v Silver Wings, Hobs Meadow Mixes v Red Arrows, Hobs Meadow have a bye. All matches are to be played on Tuesday 17th November.

Old Oscott Social continued their chase for honours at the top of the Amber Windows league with a 7-2 win at Aston Social. Prior to this week’s fixtures no fewer than six teams were chasing Oscott, all of them four points adrift. Three of those six have now lost more ground. King Edward V11 lost 7-2 to Red Lion, Mitre went down 5-4 at the Vauxhall Social and Kynoch Social finished on the wrong side of a 6-3 result at home to Seventh Trap.
