The Warwickshire County Darts squad will be back in action this coming weekend when they travel down to London to take on the Capital’s team in this the second of the BDO Inter Counties Championships fixtures. The match will be staged at the Edge Snooker Club and the teams representing Warwckshire hoping to keep them in pole position in the Premier promotion table are, Men’s ’A’:- T.McGlone, T.Aldridge, M.Brown, M.Hollyoake, S.Hine, D.Honey, T.Ryan, S.Mitton, M.Angell, S.Dwyer, D.Wykes, P.Koyce, Men’s ’B’:- W.Matthews, D.Clarke, D.Dunn, M.Strong, D.Atkins, C.Green, C.Laffar, D.Harris, P.Brotherton, D.Crossingham, M.Kane, P.Jiwa, Reserves:- R.Carr, T.Brown, G.Flowers, P.Livingstone, M.Smith, M.Gorst, G.Podmore, Ladies ’A’:- C.Bywaters, L.Newcombe, V.Franklin, C.Pike, J.Dwyer, T.Gulliver, Ladies ’B’:- M.Jennings, D.Burke, P.Thornton, V.Byrne, B.Sinnett, N.Harris, Reserves:- D.Jones, H.Rigg, D.Weston, D.Barber, J.Hill.

With a 180 from A.Hutchings Highwood chalked up an 8-1 win at Glebe Community Centre in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League. In the same division Malt Shovel’s S.Bains had a 160 and his team mate, E.Davison a 180 despite their team losing 7-2 at Saltley Amateur Gardeners.

In division two A.Price (RAFA) had a tremendous maximum checjout of 170 in a 7-2 win at Vaughans, while there were 160 breaks for J.Husband (Lea Hall Sports and Social) and P.Franks (Harvester), who in turn lost 7-2 to Shard End Social and 6-3 to Pavilions. Raven’s P.Carey helped his side to a 6-3 win against Sheldon Social by hitting a 180. Division two’s S.Darby (Yardley Ex Colts) also hit a maximum in a 7-2 success over Victoria Sicla.

The curtain raiser for the Four Oaks and District Winter League was the first round of the Brian Goodman Cup. Biggest winners of the round were Anvil Nomads, who with an 8-1 scoreline accounted for Boldmere Sports. Old Oscott WMC beat Saints 7-2 There were 6-3 wins for Bromford Lions, Hill Social, Old Oscott Arrows and Yenton Exiles over respective opponents Barn Social, Hardy Spicer, Pint Pot and Sportsmans Rest. Good Hope Flights won 5-4 at the Leopard.

Individual performances saw an 11 darts leg from M.Shepperd (Leopard) and a 180 from T.Vickers (Pint Pot).

The division three title for the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League was not decided until the final game of the season between Bournbrook Arrows and Solihull Municiple. Going into the last game Arrows were top on 21 points with Municiple second just one point behind. Roy Orton won the first for Arrows, but Solihull stormed back to take a 3-1 lead. Les Orton and Steve Carr levelled the match before Vernon Witherford sealed not only a 4-3 win but the title as well.

The league’s Bob Price Memorial Trophy went to Stirchley United WMC who beat off local opposition, in the form of Stirchley Wanderers to win the event. After opening up a 4-1 lead the final score was 4-3 to United.

It’s as you were at the top of division one of the Tamworth Cue Sports League, with the top three teams all winning. Leaders Globe won 7-2 at Two Gates Club to give them 18 points, while second in the table Dolphin’s 5-3 home win against Winning Post leaves them three points adrift. Third placed Queens also had a 5-3 win in their game with White Lion and are on the same 15 points as Dolphin, but they have played one game more than the two teams above them.

Cue Sports Club lost ground on division two leaders Red Lion ’A’ when the best they could do was to finish all square at 3-3 with Mercian. As a result following their 5-3 win over Jolly Sailor, Red Lion ’A’ are on 17 points, giving them a five points cushion.

Congratulations to Martin Cooper (Ward End Ex Service Club) who with a final win over Neil Parsonage Gunmakers Arms) has lifted the Small Heath Summer League’s Single title.

Losing semi-finalists were Chris Stokes (Victoria 301 Club) and Scouse O’Brian (Vcitoria Flights).

A final reminder that the Kings Norton Winter League, are on the lookout for more teams to join them for the start of their new campaign which gets underway on the 12th October. Anyone wishing to enter a team in the Tuesday night league should contact Brian Andrews on 0121-604-1408.
