In division one of the Harborne and District Winter league, Midland Red were on the ball handing out a 9-0 whitewash to the Woodcock.Top scorer for the Reds was Mark Holyoake, who hit 177 and 140 and also had a 100 break. All of the other fixtures were a much closer affair as New Inns, George, Smethwick Labour Club and W.C.WMC all won 4-3 against respective opponents Hobsons Choice, Hillyfields, Raven and Quinborne. There was a maximum for P’O’Neill (Hobsons Choice) and B.Davenport (Raven), who also recorded an eight darts leg.

In division two, Travellers Rest chalked up the biggest win beating Stonehouse Flights 6-1. Other results saw Highlander Flights win 5-2 against Old Mill, while in turn the Cock Inn and Pheasant won 4-3 over Coopers Arms and Avenue Social.

Best win of the week in the Sheldon and District Winter league went to division two’s Yardley Ex Service Club, who with a 9-0 margin accounted for Sheldon Shoes. In the premier division A.McCrave was in form for St Annes, hitting not only a 180, but also checking out in eight darts as his side beat Saltley Amateur Gardeners 6-3.

In addition the league staged the preliminary round of their League Cup. In the premier division Rob South (Three Horse Shoes) helped his team to a 5-4 win at EBAHA as he notched a 180 and a 171. Alan Mayell (Fordbridge Social) also hit a maximum but his team finished on the wrong side of a 5-4 result, going out to Castle Vale Residents Association. Other winners were Sheldon Heath Dukes and the Malt Shovel.

First division winners were Solihull Borough FC, Vaughans and the Raven, while Sheldon Shoes, Old Bill and Bull and the Gunmakers Arms all progressed to the next round in division two.

In division one of the Longwood league, leaders Winning Post had their fixture with Red Lion ’A’ cancelled. As a result the Globe, who won 6-2 at the Plough and Harrow and the Dolphin who also won 6-2 in their tie with White Lion have both drawn level with Winning Post on the same eight points, but Post have a game in hand on both of them.

Queens ’A’, leaders of the second division, had a bye and their local rivals Queens ’B’ joined them on seven points following their 6-2 win at Cue Sports Club., not only are the two teams level on points but also on average. Mercian who are one point adrift of the leading pair won 5-3 at the Three Horse Shoes.

With most teams at the halfway stage of the season in the Warwickshire Men’s Super League, Bedworth Cherry Tree are sitting comfortably at the top of the table on 81 points, four ahead of the nearest rivals Birmingham Shard End, with two games in hand. On the individual scene Scott Mitton (Tamworth) has the highest game average of 34.16, Mark Kane (Birmingham Midland Red) the highest finish of 161 and the least darts, which is eleven goes to Tom Dillon (Coventry Bishopsgate).

The Gulp Charity Winter league have been involved in cup fixtures. League leaders Brewer and Baker took on and defeated bottom of the table Shaftsmoor, while Malt Shovel and Great Western beat Red Lion and Victoria 301 Club respectively.
