The South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League have been busy with not only league fixtures, but also Divisional Cup semi-finals and the Bob Price Memorial Trophy semi-finals.
Division one semi’s produced a cracking encounter between Longbridge United and Greenlands. Longbridge got off to a good start, however, Greenlands then turned on the style hitting a total of 13 tons or over to take an unassailable 5-1 lead. Longbridge won the last game. In division two Stirchley Wanderers had a close 4-3 against Tascos Brunswick, while in the third division it was not a good time for the Bournbrooks. Bournbrook Arrows went into a 3-2 lead in their game with Solihull Municiple, but lost the last two to go down 4-3. Bournbrook Flights opened up a 3-0 lead over Shenley Lane and also lost 4-3.
Stirchley Wanderers (division two) beat E57 (division one) 6-1 in the semi-final of the Bob Price Trophy.

It’s still neck and neck at the top of the second division in the Harborne and District Summer League as leaders Quinborne Flights sailed to a 7-2 win at the Cock Inn and second placed Coopers Arms had a 6-3 home win over the Pheasant. Both teams have 22 points from thirteen games with Quinborne having a legs advantage over their rivals.
There was a top of the table clash in division three, where previously pole position was shared by W.C.WMC Ladies and Bartley Green Social Club Flights. The two teams met on the Weoley Castle board, but it was the visitors, Bartley Green who got the 6-3 verdict to give them eighteen points and a two points lead. Joining W.C. on 16 points is Greenlands who beat Stonehouse Flights 6-4. Both W.C. and Greenlands have two games in hand on the leaders.

Gordon Clinton has revamped the Brookmeadow Individual League and turned it into possibly a unique setup now known as the Brookmeadow Individual Knockout League. Each week the sixteen players take part in a knockout. The winning eight players then play in the ’A’ knockout and the losers in a ’B’ knockout. Points are then awarded for finishing positions in the two knockouts, with the highest points going to the ’A’ players.
In the first week’s games Gordon Clinton chalked up the season’s first ten points when he won the ’A’ knockout by beating John Goodman (8 points) 3-0 in the final. The ’B’ knockout was won by Ricky Lawrence (6 points), with Mark Elkin (4 points) runner up.

Saltley Amateur Gardeners continue to dominate group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League, winning their latest fixture at home to RAFA by 7-1, despite a 180 from RAFA’s J.Cartmell. EBAHA stay within four points of the leaders and with a game in hand, after a 5-3 success at Sheldon Dukes.
Group two provided a top of the table encounter between Mackadown Social and Iron Horse. The result was a 5-3 win for Mackadown. There was a similar situation in group three with Stechford Social getting the better of Yardley Ex Service Clots with a 5-3 win.
Banbury Club are in pole position in group four and enhanced their promotion chances with a convincing 7-1 victory over Victoria Social.

Three teams, Custard House, Victoria 301 Club and Station Hotel all have 12 points at the top of the Small Heath Summer League. However, the Gunmakers Arms versus Custard House fixture was cancelled this week and they now have a match in hand. Victoria 301 Club, with a maximum from Graham Nailor beat Innisfree 6-3, while Station Hotel lost their home game against McVeighs 5-4.
