Robert Thornton Thrilled To Extend Red Dragon Deal
The Scotsman, who is enjoying the best year of his career in the PDC, hailed the support of his sponsors after renewing the partnership.
"I’m over the moon to sign with Red Dragon for another three years,” said Thornton, who won his first PDC major title when he defeated Phil Taylor in the final of the UK Open in June.
"I have had a cracking few months but I couldn’t have done it without them. "They are a massive name in darts and I am proud to be associated with them. "They have supported me through some tough times and I’m glad to be repaying their faith at the moment.
In addition to his brilliant triumph in Bolton, the former World Master has also reached three Pro Tour finals, winning one, and conquered world number one Taylor again in his recent run to the quarter-finals of the World Grand Prix in Dublin.
‘The Thorn’, who is currently chasing more major glory at the Grand Slam of Darts, has leapt up the PDC Order of Merit in 2012 and is closing in on a top 16 spot.
He added: "This deal is brilliant news for me. I’ve been pretty consistent lately so to have signed with Red Dragon for three more years gives me huge confidence that I can keep it going.”
