Priestley pulls out

DENNIS Priestley has withdrawn from the Championship League Darts as he undergoes radiotherapy treatment as part of his recovery from prostate cancer.

The Mexborough Menace had been due to enter the newly created tournament in Group Two yesterday but has pulled out of the September dates of the event.

He is scheduled to return at a later stage for Group Seven on Tuesday October 21.

The tournament sees eight groups taking place on eight days with the winners advancing to a final group on October 23 while the bottom two from each table will be eliminated.

The remaining five players will progress into the next day^s group where they will be joined by the next three highest ranking players on the PDC Order of Merit.
