A MIXTURE of experienced players and debutants won through the Holsten Qualifiers Regional Finals to earn places at the Blue Square UK Open in Bolton.
Four Regional Finals were held across the weekend to give players the chance to win one of 32 places alongside the sport^s top names at the Reebok Stadium in June.
Two players with experience in the PDC World Championship earned a return to the big stage by coming through the North-West Regional Final in Salford, with Les Fitton and Harry Robinson defeating brothers Andrew and Drew Callary in their deciding games.
London^s Stuart Pickles won a place in his fourth successive UK Open Finals at the expense of Michael Ovens, the son of world number 21 Denis Ovens who lost 5-4 in their deciding game in Aylesbury.
Johnny Haines came from 4-1 down to win his decider, against David Harris at Villa Park, Birmingham, to qualify for a fifth successive year and is joined by two other players from Swindon, Mark Cox and 1990 News of the World Championship winner Paul Cook, in returning to Bolton.
Andy Pearce, a Stoke-based player who practises alongside Andy Hamilton, won his place in the Televised Finals with a whitewash of Dave Green in his deciding game.
Andy Boulton and Glen Durrant, who have experience in the Lakeside Championship and World Masters as well as previous UK Opens, also came through their qualifiers to win spots at Bolton.
Durrant was one of four players from Cleveland to come through Saturday^s North-East Regional Final in Batley, while Adrian Genery and Coen Wiekamp will represent Colchester at the Reebok Stadium.
The 32 Holsten Qualifiers will enter the Blue Square UK Open at the first round stage, alongside the professionals ranked 65-96 (plus ties) from the UK Open Order of Merit.
They will compete on Thursday June 4, with the top 32 players entering at the third round stage on Friday night and play in the £200,000 event progressing to a final on Sunday June 7.
