Gezzy Get's Gold - Players Championships 7

Gerwyn Price picks up his 25th PDC ranking title with a win at the Player Championship 7 held in Germany over the weekend.

‘The Iceman’ moves closer towards regaining the World Number 1 spot after pocketing the £12,000 1st prize after beating the Latvian, Madars Razma 8-4 in the Final.

The route to the Final saw the Welshman take on Dirk van Duijvenbode in the Quarters and a Semi-Final bout vs Rob Cross.

Gezzy started the Quarter-Final on fire picking up the first 3 legs on the trot, stopping Dirk from getting into the game. Gerwyn managed to keep the 3-leg lead, finishing the game 6-3. The Semi-Final was a different story for Price.

After a dominating day at the H+ Hotel, Gezzy ran into an in-form Cross. Cross, currently Number 5 in the Pro-tour Order of Merit was motivated to keep ‘The Iceman’ in the blocks. ‘Voltage’ succeeded going up 6-2.

Cross was then unable to get over the winning line, missing 12 match darts allowing Gerwyn to pick up the last 5 legs of the match, resulting in a comeback victory.

"I got lucky in the Semi’s, but you need a bit of lucky to win any tournament," said Price, who produced four ton-plus averages across the day.

"Rob missed loads of chances and I took advantage, but I've been on the other side of that plenty of times so I'll take it.

"Most of the day I played alright. My hand is still not 100 per cent right but if I can still win Pro Tours that's not too bad.

"Playing in Pro Tours will stand me in good stead for the rest of the Premier League, they give me the match practice I've been missing due to my hand injury."

Price's day began with a win over Connor Scutt, before coming through a last-leg decider against Ted Evetts.
