Article: Gemma selected for Wales

Gemma selected for Wales

The meteoric rise of Cardigan darts player Gemma Bowen continued when the 14-year-old was last week selected for the Wales girls’ team for the Europe Cup in July.

Cardigan Secondary School pupil Gemma has played just four games for Pembrokeshire Ladies B but has thrown superlative darts, which brought her to the attention of the Welsh selectors.

She and Kimberley Lewis of Newport in Gwent will represent Wales in Veldhoven, Holland, (July 9-12).

Welsh Darts Organisation youth officer Sue Getty said: "Gemma is currently playing as well as any girl in the world and has earned her call up.

"I’m sure she will do Wales proud," she said.

Another Cardigan rising star Jamie Lewis has been selected as skipper of the boys’ team in Holland.
