The Four Oaks and District Winter League had cup fixtures on their agenda and in the first round of the Brian Goodman Cup the top two division one teams Boldmere St Mike’s and The Boat handed out 9-0 whitewashes to their respective opponents Sutton Sport (division 3) and Erdington Arrows (division 1). Third in division one Golden Hind won their tie against division two’s St Thomas Arrows 7-2 while in the all division three fixture second placed Rosey Mac’s Leopard had a close 5-4 win over third in the division Boldmere Tap. Three of the round one game’s of the Ken Rust Cup matched teams from the same division as division two’s Drakes Drum lost 7-2 to Oscott Sports and The Digby went down 6-3 to Rosey Mac’s. In the all division three tie there was a close 5-4 win for Deer’s Leap over Castle Vale Residents and in the other game played Walmley CSC Arrows from division one beat their third division opponents The Towers with a somewhat surprisingly close 5-4 result. With Highwood, leaders of the Shirley and District Monday Night League having a bye in week 29, second in the table Dunky’s Boys took the opportunity to reduce the arrears to just two points as they handed their hosts Blue Bell a 9-0 whitewash. A win in their game in hand would see Dunkys go top of the table as they have a far superior average than Highwood. Third in the table The Lion were also 9-0 winners playing away to Short Shafts which leaves them six points off the top and like Dunky’s with a game in hand. Making up a trio of top team 9-0 wins was fourth placed Lodge who in their home tie accounted for Legion Royals. At the other end of the table Shirley Spartac still remain without a point from their 26 games after losing 6-3 away to the team just above them Sharmans Cross. Leaders of the Kings Norton League Avenue C.Fox suffered their first defeat in sixteen games when playing away to Cock Inn they went down 4-3, Cock Inn moving up one place in the table to third with 24 points from 16 games, one in hand on the team just above them Bournbrook and only two points behind with a better average. Despite the defeat Avenue C.Fox remain in pole position with 30 points from sixteen games still having a lead of four over Bournbrook and like Cock Inn with a game in hand. As a result of having a bye in week ten of the Sheldon and District Winter League Highwood Gerry’s Boys have lost their number one spot in the Premier Division to Dunky’s Boys whose 6-3 win at East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association has put them on 14 points from eight games whereas Highwood are on 12 points from seven games with a superior average. Third in the division Langley Arrows won 5-4 at Sheldon Dukes to give them the same 12 points as Highwood but from eight games. Division One’s top team Hornet experienced their first defeat in the nine games they have played, a huge 7-2 loss away to their nearest rivals Hobs Meadow who are now four points behind them with a game in hand. Meadway Sports and Social opened up a two points lead at the top of Division Three beating second placed Holy Souls 6-3. Both of the top two teams in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League won 8-1 in week 19, leaders Brickmakers Arms winning against Gigmill to keep them six points to the good on second placed Britannia who won against Bird (Stourbridge). Third in the table Ten Arches fell another two points behind the two teams above them when they lost their home tie with tenth placed Swan 5-4 leaving them ten points behind Brickmakers. There was a rare win for Kingswinford Conservative Club as they chalked up only their third win in 19 when they beat bottom of the table Hare and Hounds 6-3. Just one final rearranged league fixture played in the Netherton Thursday Night League which brought together the league’s top two teams, champions Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club and runners-up Bulls Head. Playing on the Ex Serviceman’s board the 6-3 result went in favour of the home team to see them finish the season with 75 points a massive twelve points more than second and third placed Bulls Head and Riddins Tavern. The final of the league’s Shadow Cup went to the wire, the last doubles game giving White Horse the very close 5-4 verdict over Fairfield. The league will be holding their AGM at the Bulls Head in January anyone interested in entering a team in the league should attend this meeting, more details including the actual time and date when they become available. There was only one rearranged fixture played in the Camp Hill Marston’s League this week which saw White Swan Nomads beat Sheldon Marlborough Flights 5-2 to replace Emerald Club in the number one spot as the Nomads have the better average, both teams are level on 16 points from nine games. The Cradley Tuesday Night League played off their Singles Knockout and winning the title with a final 3-2 victory over Steve Tipper (Netherton Sports and Social Club ‘A’) was Nick Fullwell representing league champions Brickmakers Arms ‘A’. Champions of the Brierley Hill Monday Night League Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club completed their fixtures with their thirtieth win in 34 games when they won 6-3 at Brickmakers Arms to see them finish two points ahead of runners-up Roebuck who ended their campaign with a 5-4 win at Portway. Lamp Tavern have been ousted from their number one spot in the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League after losing their first game in twelve when they went down 5-4 at home to reigning champions and new leaders Old Bulls Head. Old Bulls Head go above Lamp on average only as both teams are on 22 points. With the domestic fixtures all done and dusted and The Vine crowned champions with The George runners-up the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League staged their Delegates Cup final in which Paul Bladen beat Steve Cliff in what was a very close game. An emphatic 6-1 home win over Church Tavern ‘B’ is what Ashwood ‘B’ leaders of the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League achieved in week 11 to keep them top of the table on average from Swan ‘A’ and Ten Arches ‘B’, however Swan ‘A’ after beating Caves 5-2 still have a game in hand on Ashwood ‘B’ which could see them take over at the top of the table. Third in the league Ten Arches ‘B’ had a close 4-3 win at The Bell who are ninth in the table and six points off the top. The Pip Club League were involved in their John Young Challenge Cup and in the Division One fixtures there were wins for Belgrave Sports and Social Club and Belgrave Club who in turn defeated Globe (Wilnecote) and Birchmoor Club, Mark Faulkner hitting a 180 for Globe and there was also maximums for Phil Jones (Birchmoor Club) and Joe Wilson (Belgrave Club). It was top versus bottom in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League as leaders British Oak played hosts to bottom of the table Delph Bell ‘A’, the result was a clear-cut 7-0 win for British Oak to leave them as the only team with a 100% win record having won all of their five games so far. Second placed Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ who are two points adrift of the leaders took on Netherton Cricket Club, their 4-3 win seeing them open up a gap of two points between them and the Cricket Club who drop one place to fourth as Delph Bell ‘B’ with a 5-2 win over Brickmakers Arms ‘B’ take over third place on average from the Cricket Club, Brickmakers Arms ‘B’ and Miners (Wollescote) who are all on six points. A 4-1 win at Cabin keeps Allen’s Sports Bar ‘A’ top of the West Midlands Men’s Super League table with a total of 91 points from 15 games, the chasing pair Yeltz Bar ‘A’ and Woodside Inn squared up to each other on Woodside’s board with the home team getting the 3-2 result. The win has seen Woodside replace their opponents in second place with 87 points, four short of the leaders but one more than their visitors. Yeltz Bar ‘B’ like their ‘A’ side were involved in a 3-2 result but unlike their ‘A’ team they were on the winning side but only after they had been made to fight for it. Playing at home Yeltz ‘B’ took on the ECC Sports and Social Club and after going one up with a win from S.Hill found themselves trailing 2-1 as in turn I.Hartland and M.Greenwood lost 4-3 to L.Griffiths and M.Hampson. Results from game fifteen in the Singles Division of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League had no effect whatsoever on the top seven team placing’s, the only change in the division being Village Inn and Mount Tavern swapping places as the former won 4-3. Village Inn moved up one place to eighth and Mount Tavern dropped one place to ninth. In the Doubles Division Riley’s ‘C’ with a 2-1 win at Jones Road continue to lead the field with 50 points and second in the table railway remain four points behind them after their 3-0 win against Pendulum. Only two results from the South Birmingham League and both of them were 8-1 as Banbury Arrows beat Centurion to replace them in pole position and C’s Top Guns beat local rivals C’s Bullets to move up one place into second, Centurioin drop to third place. In the Mini League there was one game which saw C’s Hot Shots win 16-11 against Coleshill Social, Coleshill staying top of the league simply because they have played two games and have 29 points and second placed C’s Hot Shots who are 13 points behind them have only played one game so far as have third in the table C’s Flights who with 9 points are 20 off the top.
