With Highwood, leaders of the Shirley and District Monday Night League having a bye in week 29, second in the table Dunky’s Boys took the opportunity to reduce the arrears to just two points as they handed their hosts Blue Bell a 9-0 whitewash. A win in their game in hand would see Dunkys go top of the table as they have a far superior average than Highwood. Third in the table The Lion were also 9-0 winners playing away to Short Shafts which leaves them six points off the top and like Dunky’s with a game in hand. Making up a trio of top team 9-0 wins was fourth placed Lodge who in their home tie accounted for Legion Royals. At the other end of the table Shirley Spartac still remain without a point from their 26 games after losing 6-3 away to the team just above them Sharmans Cross. Leaders of the Kings Norton League Avenue C.Fox suffered their first defeat in sixteen games when playing away to Cock Inn they went down 4-3, Cock Inn moving up one place in the table to third with 24 points from 16 games, one in hand on the team just above them Bournbrook and only two points behind with a better average. Both of the top two teams in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League won 8-1 in week 19, leaders Brickmakers Arms winning against Gigmill to keep them six points to the good on second placed Britannia who won against Bird (Stourbridge). Third in the table Ten Arches fell another two points behind the two teams above them when they lost their home tie with tenth placed Swan 5-4 leaving them ten points behind Brickmakers. Just one final rearranged league fixture played in the Netherton Thursday Night League which brought together the league’s top two teams, champions Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club and runners-up Bulls Head. Playing on the Ex Serviceman’s board the 6-3 result went in favour of the home team to see them finish the season with 75 points a massive twelve points more than second and third placed Bulls Head and Riddins Tavern. The final of the league’s Shadow Cup went to the wire, the last doubles game giving White Horse the very close 5-4 verdict over Fairfield. The league will be holding their AGM at the Bulls Head in January anyone interested in entering a team in the league should attend this meeting, more details including the actual time and date when they become available. An emphatic 6-1 home win over Church Tavern ‘B’ is what Ashwood ‘B’ leaders of the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League achieved in week 11 to keep them top of the table on average from Swan ‘A’ and Ten Arches ‘B’, however Swan ‘A’ after beating Caves 5-2 still have a game in hand on Ashwood ‘B’ which could see them take over at the top of the table. A 4-1 win at Cabin keeps Allen’s Sports Bar ‘A’ top of the West Midlands Men’s Super League table with a total of 91 points from 15 games, the chasing pair Yeltz Bar ‘A’ and Woodside Inn squared up to each other on Woodside’s board with the home team getting the 3-2 result. The win has seen Woodside replace their opponents in second place with 87 points, four short of the leaders but one more than their visitors. Yeltz Bar ‘B’ like their ‘A’ side were involved in a 3-2 result but unlike their ‘A’ team they were on the winning side but only after they had been made to fight for it. Results from game fifteen in the Singles Division of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League had no effect whatsoever on the top seven team placing’s, the only change in the division being Village Inn and Mount Tavern swapping places as the former won 4-3. Village Inn moved up one place to eighth and Mount Tavern dropped one place to ninth. In the Doubles Division Riley’s ‘C’ with a 2-1 win at Jones Road continue to lead the field with 50 points and second in the table railway remain four points behind them after their 3-0 win against Pendulum. Only two results from the South Birmingham League and both of them were 8-1 as Banbury Arrows beat Centurion to replace them in pole position and C’s Top Guns beat local rivals C’s Bullets to move up one place into second, Centurioin drop to third place. In the Mini League there was one game which saw C’s Hot Shots win 16-11 against Coleshill Social, Coleshill staying top of the league simply because they have played two games and have 29 points and second placed C’s Hot Shots who are 13 points behind them have only played one game so far as have third in the table C’s Flights who with 9 points are 20 off the top.
