Its’ been a week of finals for the South Birmingham League first the Mixed Doubles in which Jim Frost and Wendy Loxton beat Neil Parsonage and Makela Walker 2-1 in the semi finals and despite a maximum from Nicky Harris she and her partner Steve Sweetman lost 2-0 to Micky Noonan and Sue Kingdon. The final was again a straight 2-0 result with Noonan and Kingdon the winners.

Noonan was not so fortunate in the Captains Cup as he lost 2-1 in the last four to Mark Birch and joining Birch in the final was Matt Cooper with a similar 2-1 victory over Dave Mortiboys. The title went to Mark Birch as he beat Cooper 2-0 in the final.

The Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club Singles League have completed their league fixtures and winner of the Championship division with a total of 28 points is Dave Howlett, runner up Dave Humphries finished four points adrift of Howlett.
The Championship title went to Ken Salsbury and despite leading the division for most of the season only took the title on average as Neal Rughani and Pete Jones also finished on the same 24 points as him.
Alan Wale with 28 points was the winner of division one, Nigel Ricketts runner up with 26 points.
The league’s overall table saw premiership player Dave Howlett and Alan Wale from division one both finish on the same 28 points.

The Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League is up to week eleven and leading the way with 116 points from 21 games is Louis Burley whose latest fixtures saw him win 6-1 against Tam Singh and then follow that with a closer 4-3 win over Les Marson. Burley’s nearest threat comes from reigning champion Mick Baker who took his points tally to 112, just four short of Burley when he beat Phil Summers 7-0 and Jay Hough 5-2.
Former leader Kevin Harris didn’t play in week eleven and as a result has dropped three places to fourth and is now 20 points off the top with three games in hand, three games which could net him a total of 21 points and take him back into pole position.

Taking the Small Heath League’s singles title with a final victory over Dave Heighway (Gulp Tribe) was East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association player Tom White.

The Harborne and District League staged round one of their League Cup and the biggest shock of the round was the 6-1 win by Smethwick Labour Club over Weoley Castle WMC as Smethwick lost their opening game of the season against Weoley Castle Pub 5-1 and Weoley Castle WMC won theirs against Avenue Social by the same score.
Current joint league leaders Weoley Castle Pub beat Bartley Green FC 6-1 and by the same margin Hillyfields ‘A’ defeated Avenue Flights while Hillyfields ‘B’ had a closer 4-3 win over Sportsman Flights.
On the individual scene there were 180’s for G.Sullivan (Weoely Castle WMC), J.Best and T.McGlone (Hillyfields ‘A’) and 107 checkouts for both J.Good (Hillyfields ‘A’) and R.Needham (Sportsman Flights).

Journeys End held on to their four points lead at the top of division one of the Forest of Arden Summer League when they won 5-3 at home against Greville Arrows. Highwood KB in second place went one better with a 6-2 success over bottom of the table Chelmsley Town.

Steve Sidwell has moved up three places in the Shirley Red Lion Premier League to top of the table after beating Ken Hopton 3-0 and Chris Thomas 3-1 giving him a total of 48 points one more than his nearest rival Pete Silver who had 3-0 wins over Stuart Dixon and Lee Harris to put him on 47 points.
Former leader Mick Gorst didn’t play this week and now lies in third place on 45 points but from only 16 games whereby the two players above him have both played 18. Also on 45 points is Mark Gwalchmai whose 3-1 and 3-2 wins over respective players Lee Harris and Brian Lawton has seen him jump up four places to fourth in the table.

Week two of the Camp Hill League’s new season in which Cotterills Lane Club and Holy Gulp share the number one spot level on points and average. Cotterills won their fixture at bottom of the table Emerald Club 6-1 while Holy Gulp had a close 4-3 win away to newcomers Tyseley WMC. Devil’s Club are another team who have got the new season off with two wins their latest being 4-3 at Eagle and Ball but they trail the top two teams on average.

The Stourbridge and District Monday Night League have reached week 31 of their season and at that point just two points separate the top four teams, leaders Ashwood had an 8-1 win away to next to bottom of the table Garibaldi to keep them just ahead of Britannia on average as both teams have played 29 games and have 52 points two more than third and fourth placed Bird ‘A’ (Stourbridge) and Ten Arches ‘A’, however Bird ‘A’ have only played 27 games and wins in those two outstanding fixtures would take them two points ahead of the rest of the field. A 6-1 win against Wigginton Arms ‘B’ was not enough to give Fox and Dogs the Tamworth League title as they finished just three points short of champions Prince of Wales ‘A’ and had to satisfy themselves with the runners up spot.
With a six point’s advantage Martin Edwards (Fox and Dogs) won the Players League title, he finished with a total of 54 points whereas runner up Mick Chater (Prince of Wales ‘A’) had 48.

The Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club Singles League have completed their league fixtures and winner of the Championship division with a total of 28 points is Dave Howlett, runner up Dave Humphries finished four points adrift of Howlett.
The Championship title went to Ken Salsbury and despite leading the division for most of the season only took the title on average as Neal Rughani and Pete Jones also finished on the same 24 points as him.
Alan Wale with 28 points was the winner of division one, Nigel Ricketts runner up with 26 points.
The league’s overall table saw premiership player Dave Howlett and Alan Wale from division one both finish on the same 28 points.

The Winmau Centre Thursday Night Champions League is up to week eleven and leading the way with 116 points from 21 games is Louis Burley whose latest fixtures saw him win 6-1 against Tam Singh and then follow that with a closer 4-3 win over Les Marson. Burley’s nearest threat comes from reigning champion Mick Baker who took his points tally to 112, just four short of Burley when he beat Phil Summers 7-0 and Jay Hough 5-2.
Former leader Kevin Harris didn’t play in week eleven and as a result has dropped three places to fourth and is now 20 points off the top with three games in hand, three games which could net him a total of 21 points and take him back into pole position.

The Harborne and District League staged round one of their League Cup and the biggest shock of the round was the 6-1 win by Smethwick Labour Club over Weoley Castle WMC as Smethwick lost their opening game of the season against Weoley Castle Pub 5-1 and Weoley Castle WMC won theirs against Avenue Social by the same score.
Current joint league leaders Weoley Castle Pub beat Bartley Green FC 6-1 and by the same margin Hillyfields ‘A’ defeated Avenue Flights while Hillyfields ‘B’ had a closer 4-3 win over Sportsman Flights.

Journeys End held on to their four points lead at the top of division one of the Forest of Arden Summer League when they won 5-3 at home against Greville Arrows. Highwood KB in second place went one better with a 6-2 success over bottom of the table Chelmsley Town.

Steve Sidwell has moved up three places in the Shirley Red Lion Premier League to top of the table after beating Ken Hopton 3-0 and Chris Thomas 3-1 giving him a total of 48 points one more than his nearest rival Pete Silver who had 3-0 wins over Stuart Dixon and Lee Harris to put him on 47 points.
Former leader Mick Gorst didn’t play this week and now lies in third place on 45 points but from only 16 games whereby the two players above him have both played 18. Week two of the Camp Hill League’s new season in which Cotterills Lane Club and Holy Gulp share the number one spot level on points and average. Cotterills won their fixture at bottom of the table Emerald Club 6-1 while Holy Gulp had a close 4-3 win away to newcomers Tyseley WMC. The Stourbridge and District Monday Night League have reached week 31 of their season and at that point just two points separate the top four teams, leaders Ashwood had an 8-1 win away to next to bottom of the table Garibaldi to keep them just ahead of Britannia on average as both teams have played 29 games and have 52 points two more than third and fourth placed Bird ‘A’ (Stourbridge) and Ten Arches ‘A’, however Bird ‘A’ have only played 27 games and wins in those two outstanding fixtures would take them two points ahead of the rest of the field. A 6-1 win against Wigginton Arms ‘B’ was not enough to give Fox and Dogs the Tamworth League title as they finished just three points short of champions Prince of Wales ‘A’ and had to satisfy themselves with the runners up spot.
With a six point’s advantage Martin Edwards (Fox and Dogs) won the Players League title, he finished with a total of 54 points whereas runner up Mick Chater (Prince of Wales ‘A’) had 48.
