Dave Ladleys’s Crawley Players Championships, Saturday 20th March 2010

Myself, Darren Johnson and Mark Lawrence travelled down to Crawley on Friday 19th in order to avoid an early drive on Saturday morning affecting our games.

We met up with Dave Holland on Saturday morning and truly enjoyed his company throughout the weekend although darts was never off the subject! Dave has been working tirelessly for me looking for sponsors and has been doing a great job. He has now signed up most of my Yorkshire travelling buddies so we all look forward to working with him over the forthcoming months/years. Dave was in his element all weekend and my facebook pictures tell the full story!

I drew Brendan Dolan in the first round of this competition and played a high quality game with him. The turning point came in the game when Brendan finished 90 hitting 25,15 and the bull to move 4-3 ahead.

Brendan’s finishing quality was amazing and was the decisive factor in the game as he ran out a 6-4 winner. Brendan lost 6-5 in round 2 to Chris Mason and the eventual winner was my lookalike Barrie Bates.

Crawley UK Open regional Qualifier, Sunday 21st March 2010

I had drawn Justin Pipe in the first round. I had played Justin two weeks ago in Germany so knew exactly how hard the game would be.

I set off well in the first leg but missed 2 crucial darts at double top. I returned the favour winning the second leg but alas that was my last winning leg as Justin won 6-1. Justin played a good game and I did not disgrace myself one bit and felt I played good darts but to be fair I felt devastated to say the least

On to next month in Barnsley and I will be hitting the practice board in preparation for that one for sure!

Justin had a good run through to the quarter finals and lost out to Wes Newton. The eventual winner was Gary Anderson who beat Wes in the final.

Dave Holland left a very happy man and is looking forward to day release in September!

Thanks for reading,

Dave Ladley
