Bobby ready to be a dazzler again

‘King of Bling’ Bobby George has told Setanta Sports News that the forthcoming Betfred.com League of Legends tournament will inject some much-needed razzmatazz back into darts.

The tournament will bring together four world champions of the 1980s and four of their peers and will run across eight Friday nights between May 30 and August 22. Log on to www.setanta.com to subscribe to Setanta Sports and watch the competition exclusively live.

George shot to fame for his colourful stage entrances, brash shirts, jewellery and catchphrases such as, ‘may the darts be with you^, and is relishing the chance to renew acquaintances with his rivals of yesteryear.

"The legends tournament is people there at the beginning, there’s all those great names who were there in the early days," ^Bobby Dazzler^ told Setanta Sports News.

"We can all play darts just as good as we could, but we’re probably not as competitive as we were. We will be for this though! I don’t mind playing them, I want to beat them all up though!"

George feels that the competition will give the game a timely reminder of what it has been missing in recent years.

"There’s not so many characters any more, the players are more money-minded," he added.

"We were different back then. There was probably 12-15 guys who were all different characters mouthing off at each other.

"When I started I saw all these normal darts players. I wanted to be different with all the razzmatazz, nice shirt and jewellery – that’s my image and it gets you recognised.

"It’s a show, I will come up with my candle and cloak. I can’t get wait to get up there again."
