Beaton’s Blog Crawley Weekend

Firstly I would like to say thanks to George & Ian for arranging Friday nights exhibition at the Beckenham Club. What a brilliant fun evening and a great bunch of people.  Well done to Tony, Fred and Sandra on beating me, I’m looking forward to the re-match!!!

The venue was the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley, great venue but could do with a few more bar staff at times.

Saturday I made it to the last 16.
On my way I defeated Michael Smith 6-2, Andy Jenkins 6-1, Peter Wright 6-3, then lost to the eventual winner Justin Pipe 6-4.
Justin defeated Vincent Van der Voort 6-3 in the final, his third Pro Tour win in a month.

Sunday I went one better making it to the quarter finals, defeating Nick Fulwell 6-3, James Richardson 6-2, Kevin painter 6-5 in a closely fought game, Kev missed bull for a 121 finish in the deciding leg, I was sitting on 164, I hammered in a 140 leaving 24 putting the pressure back on Kev, he missed 25 and I took out the double 12.  I beat Paul Nicholson 6-3 in the fourth round and then lost to Co Stompe 6-3 in the quarters.

It’s getting very tense now in the lead up to the Player Championship Finals in Doncaster next month as there are only two tournaments left to play which is in Wigan at the end of this month and it’s very tight for the last couple of qualifying positions.

I will be present at the draw for the Grand Slam voicing my opinion along with Ian Taylor at brmb radio at six this Monday evening.
Good Luck to everyone, especially me.
Happy Darting
Steve
