Warwickshire will be hoping to start their campaign in the premier division of the Riley’s BDO Inter County Championships with a win as they have not won on opening day since they beat Hertfordshire 20-16 in September 2008, when they played in division one.

They went on that season to win all nine of their fixtures so maybe that would be an omen if they could open up with a win in the forthcoming season.

The statistics however do not look too good. Since being promoted to the premier division at the end of the 2008 / 2009 season Warwickshire’s opening fixture has been against Yorkshire and this coming season will be no different as they take on the reigning champions at the Glasshoughton WMC, Leeds Road, Castleford.
