Five out five wins and still not top of the table!! That’s Warwickshire’s record in division one of the BDO Inter Counties Championships this season. Their latest success a 24-12 win away to bottom of the table Middlesex is their biggest win so far and has given them a total of 117 points to reduce the arrears on leaders Gwent to just two points.

There were wins for both men’s teams, the ‘A’ 9-3, with Prakash Jiwa (29.47) their top player and the ’B’ 7-5 with Trevor Frost (24.24) taking the match award.

The ladies ’A’ had a resounding 5-1 win and once again it was Trina Gulliver’s 25.05 average that gave her the lady of the match trophy . The ‘B’ side finished all square at 3-3 Caroline Pike (18.48) the lady of the match.

In the same division West Midlands are finding the going a little tougher than their local rivals and found themselves on the wrong side of a 19-17 result away to Derbyshire and leaves them with just one victory from five games.

The men’s ’A’ shared a 6-6 result, while the ’B’ won 8-4, the respective award winners being Ian Jones (27.30) and Ian Stanton (25.91).

The ladies had a poor weekend with the ’A’ team losing 4-2 and the ’B’ 5-1, Lisa Astbury (19.12) was the ’A’ side’s top player and Claire Ford (10.81) the ’B’s.

Cup games were on the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Winter League. First the second round of the Punch Bowl in which premier division leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners handed out a 9-0 whitewash to Sheldon Social, closely followed by an 8-1 success for Mackadown Social in their away tie with Kingshurst labour Club. Brook Meadow, Shard End RBL and Olton RBL all won 7-2 in turn against Shard End RBL Vikings, Willclare Sports and Social and Golden Acres. Other teams going into the hat for the next round are Sheldon Dukes, Castle Vale Residents Association and Shirley RBL. Amazingly the eight teams going through are the current top eight teams in the premier division.

The three preliminary round games in the Sheldon Shield all finished with 5-4 margins, the winners being Scanlone, Yardley and District Darts Team and Yardley Ex Colts.

In division one of the Four Oaks and District League second placed Sportsmans Rest had to win the last two games against Boldmere Sports to clinch a close 5-4 win, while leaders Sutton Sports made it ten wins in as many games when they defeated Old Oscott WMC 7-2 to hold on to their four points lead. Hill Social’s bad run continues as they lost their home game with Anvil Nomads 8-1.

In division two the top two teams, Old Oscott Arrows and Oscott Social both won, but Bromford Lions fell two points behind the leading duo when in their home fixture with the Fox the visitors won the last two games to seal a 5-4 victory. There were maximums this week for A.Carter (Anvil Nomads) and K.Tooze (Pint Pot).

----------------------------------

With just one week remaining in the Grange Sunday Night 301 Charity League, Matt Cooper has taken over pole position from Jim Norris. Cooper had a 3-0 win against Luke Coles and followed that with a 2-1 success in his game with Warren Jones. However, despite having a three points lead Norris did not play this week and he now had two games in hand on Cooper which could see him return to the number one spot.

Julian Harris heads the shadow league on 9 points, two more than his nearest rival Luke Coles.
