The top two teams in group one of the Sheldon and District Summer League met in the most recent fixtures, leaders Bromford Bridge Members Club Exiles taking on Saltley Amateur Gardeners. Saltley were the home side but it was not enough of an advantage for them to win as Bromford went on to win 5-3. Bromford are still in pole position on four points, just one leg of average ahead of Mackadown Social whose 6-2 home win over Sheldon Dukes puts them levell o points with Bromford. Saltley have dropped to third place but have a game in hand on the two teams above them.

There was also a top of the table clash in group two. Prior to the game Shirley RBL and Old Bill and Bull were level on points and average, but with Shirley handing out a convincing 7-1 defeat to their rivals they have now opened up a two points lead and a very healthy average.

Redhill Tavern, remain in the number one spot in group three after their 6-2 win at Scanlons. Second placed Highwood ’A’ won their home tie with Shirley RBL Misfits 5-3.

In group four Vaughans suffered their first loss of the season going down 6-2 at George V and in group five Banbury Warriors had a similar fate as they lost 5-3 at Yardley Ex Flights.

The Small Heath League had the semi finals of their League Cup on the fixture card. Redhill Tavern were the biggest winners, a 6-3 result against Wagon and Horses, while Stechford Social Club beat Potcheen Still by the narrowest of margins, 5-4.

It was cup games in the Forest of Arden Winter League all of them being played at Sheldon Social Club. In the League Cup semi finals Old Bill and Bull had a 5-4 win against Greville Arrows, D.Finney recording a 160 break for Greville. The second semi saw Olton RBL had a 6-3 win over Highwood with Andy Hutchings chalking up two 160 breaks. The final was a close affair with Olton just running out the 5-4 victors.

Cup number two was the Shadow Cup which saw Greville Arms win the first of the semi finals 6-3 against Golden Acres and Sheldon Flights the second with a 5-4 verdict over Kenny’s Boy’s.

The final was again a closely fought encounter with Sheldon Flights just getting the 5-4 edge on Greville Arms.

A final reminder that this coming Friday the Holiday Inn, Smallbrook Kingsway, Birmingham, will play hosts to “The Legends Of Darts” night being presented by Mark Elkin and “This Is Darts”.

The night will include a memorabilia auction, photographs and signings by John “Old Stone Face“, Bobby “King Of Bling” George and Eric “The Crafty Cockney” Bristow. The evening will be hosted by top comedian Duncan “Chase Me” Norvell and the MC for the evening Paul Wilson from Setanta TV.

All West Midlands Super League players should note that this coming Sunday the play offs for the World Professional Championships will be staged at Gilberts Bar, Willenhall.

Registration time is 5.00pm with match play commencing at 6.00pm.
