With matches running out Robbie Earl, reigning champion in the Brook Meadow Individual League, has reduced the arrears on leader Mark Birch to just four points. Earl chalked up a straight 3-0 win over Paul Hogan to give him a total of 107 points form 26 games. Birch , meanwhile recorded a 2-1 success against Mark Elkin giving him 111 points.

Mitre began their title defence of the Small Heath League with a resounding 9-0 victory over Victoria Inn. Bromford Bridge Social Club ’A’ also handed out a 9-0 whitewash in their fixture with local rivals Bromford Bridge Social Club ’B’. Other teams to get the new season off to a winning start were Custard House, Innisfree and Gunmakers Arms, at the expense in turn of Victoria 301 Club, Victoria Flights and Wagon and Horses.

A 6-2 win at the Globe means Queens ’A’ are the only team in division one of the Tamworth Cue Sports League able to boast a 100% record after only completing two fixtures. Red Lion ’A’ are now Queens nearest rivals, they were held to a 4-4 home draw by White Lion to give White Lion their first point of the campaign.

In division two Three Horse Shoes and Queens ’B’ are the early pacesetters. Both teams have won their first two games, Horse Shoes beating Boot Inn with a massive 8-0 scoreline in their latest encounter, while Queens ’B’ won 5-3 at home to Hopwas Club.

The quarter finals of the Mrs F. Richman Trophy were on the agenda for the Sheldon and District Summer League. Mackadown Social were the rounds biggest winners, a 145 finish from D.Field helping them to a 6-1 win against Stechford Social. Bromford Bridge Members Club were not far behind with their 5-2 success at Shard End RBL. The other two encounters finished 4-3, Malt Shovel and Brook Meadow taking out their respective rivals Shard End Social and Harvester.

There was a battle of the Bournbrook’s in division two of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League, when Flights played hosts to Arrows. The result was a close, in fact it went to the very last game, 4-3 victory for the away side Bournbrook Arrows.

In division one Brian Andrews chalked up a maximum as his side, Stirchley Wanderers went down 4-3 at Greenlands. Northfield Conservative Club had a convincing away win in the third division, hey travelled to Moseley Cricket Club, but returned with a 6-1 victory.

It was top versus bottom in the Rik-Fit League as Old Mill, second from bottom entertained second from top Hawthorns. The result was a surprising 6-3 verdict in favour of Old Mill, with D.Birch hitting a 180 for the home team and S.Ager doing the same for the visitors.

In the Kings Norton 501 Summer League there were 4-3 wins for Camp and Fordrough, who in turn defeated Man on the Moon and Navigation.
