Warwickshire travelled al the way to Cornwall in the latest fixture in division one of the BDO Inter Counties Championships and returned adding another win to the six they had already amassed this season.. Their 19-17 win maintains their pole position in the promotion table with 169 points, 18 more than second placed Gwent.
Both men’s teams finished all square at 6-6, with Tom McGlone (26.45) and Steve Dwyer (27.01) the respective ‘A’ and ‘B’ award winners. The ladies ‘B’ won 4-2, Louise Graham (18.79) their top lady for the second successive game. The ‘A’ side ended at 3-3 with Lesley Newcombe (28.36) taking the lady of the match award, the first time Trina Gulliver has not won the award since November 2006.

West Midlands also played away, a tough encounter against promotion contender Gwent. Nevertheless the Midlanders recorded a very respectable 18-18 draw. All four games ended in a draw, the match awards going to, for the ‘A’ teams Ian Jones (29.91) and Leanne Jennings (20.88) and for the ‘B’ Matt Tedstone 27.42) and Sarah Robbins (18.98).

It’s been a week of cup matches for the Sheldon and District Winter League. First the quarter finals of the Punch Bowl in which all four games resulted in 5-4 scorelines. Shirley RBL probably pulled off the shock of the round as they, who are currently sixth in the premier division table beat leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners. Second in the premier Mackadown Social also made their exit as they went down at home to Olton RBL. In the other two games Castle Vale Residents Association lost at Shard End RBL and Sheldon Dukes won at Brook Meadow.
The first round of the Sheldon Shield saw Iron Horse hand out a 9-0 whitewash to hosts Barley Mow, while Scanlons were not far behind with their 8-1 win at Small Heath Gardeners Flights. Other teams to progress to round two were, Custard House, Small Heath Amateur Gardeners, Pavilions and Highwood.

Sutton Sports leaders of division one of the Four Oaks and District League found themselves trailing 4-3 in their home tie with Anvil Nomads. However, they went onto win the last two games and seal not only a 5-4 win, or even maintain their 100% win record, but clinch the division title with two games to play. Sportsmans Rest recorded a similar 5-4 win at Cross Keys PPA and have claimed the runners up spot.
The second division is a much closer contest with no fewer than three teams level on 24 points and only half a dozen legs separating them. Oscot Social have been ousted from pole position after losing the home game against Old Oscott Arrows 6-3 and have dropped to third place. Old Oscott Arrows have taken over the number one spot with Bromford Lions second following a convincing 8-1 home win over Pint Pot. With only three games to play it’s going to be an interesting run in.
Just one 180 this week and that was hit by A.Kimberley from Deer’s Leap.

The Brook Meadow have got their new season underway and with a new format, The individual league has decided to revert to a best of three 301, start and finish on a double set up and it has been well received as no fewer than 24 players have signed up to get the season underway. After the opening two fixtures six players share top place on nine points, Terry Clay, Mark Elkin, Chris Davis, Tony Comerford and Carl Winters.

The final games of the season in the Coffin Club Knockout League saw Trevor Frost win the ’A’ knockout with a final 3-2 victory over Robbie Earl, while the ’B’ knockout was won by Jason Evans who had a straight 2-0 success against Tony Comerford in his final game.
In the first season of the knockout league the title was won by the man who inspired it all Trevor Frost. Frost finished his fixture list with a total of 134 points, 24 more than his nearest rival Neil Parsonage. Throughout the season Frost hit an amazing 23 scores of 180, Jason Evans second in the maximum league with 16.
Robbie Earl recorded the fastest leg of twelve darts, while the highest finish of 133 went to Mark Osbourne.
