The Race to Lakeside 2016
The race to compete at the longest-running and most watched World Professional Darts Championship is in full flow and with plenty of action ahead of the cut-off at the end of September, Red Dragon will keep you informed on which players are leading the way with weekly updates on the race to Lakeside 2016.
Three of the current top four on the BDO Men’s Invitation table are already guaranteed a spot on stage at the home of world darts in January having reached the semi-finals of this year’s tournament.
They are leader Glen Durrant, who has been in brilliant form in 2015 – winning three ranking titles, three-time winner Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams and Red Dragon’s very own reigning World Champion Scotty ‘Dog’ Mitchell, while Canada’s Jeff Smith, who will also qualify automatically having reached the last four this year, is sitting in 32nd place. If he stays there, only the top 26 can be assured of their places on the famous Lakeside stage in the New Year.
Belgium’s Geert de Vos is flying high in third spot, while Wesley Harms, Jamie Hughes, Daryl Fitton, Martin Phillips, Jeffrey de Graaf and Pip Blackwell currently make up the top ten.
However, with a hectic schedule of ranking tournaments taking place in August and September, everything is still to play for and we will keep you informed of all the movers and shakers over the coming weeks up until the field is finalist at the Winmau World Masters – with a place in the World Championship being received for the winner of that prestigious tournament in Hull.
So watch this space and follow the progress of your favourite players as the race to Lakeside 2016 reaches its climax.
