Points mean prizes at U-21 World Champs
Darts players who won qualifying tournaments at Rileys Darts Zones across the UK made a big impression at the PDC Under-21 World Darts Championship.
Eight Riley’s qualifiers shared £8,750 in prize money as they finished in the final eight of the 64-man tournament at the Barnsley Metrodome on Saturday November 6. Rileys Victoria qualifier Lewis Venues, 18, of Battersea, London, was the best performer and he picked up £2,500 for reaching the semi-finals.
Chris Aubrey (Rileys Coventry – Hertford Place) Daniel McGivney (Rileys Cardiff) and Red Dragons Shaun Griffiths (Rileys Chorlton) made their exits at the quarter-final stage and each collected £1,250.
Four more players left the tournaments with £625 each after reaching the third round: Curtis Bagley (Rileys Loughborough) John Smith (Rileys Worcester) Ryan Hitchens (Rileys Croydon – Purley Way) and Curtis Hammond (Rileys Colchester).
More than 1,000 players had entered qualifying tournaments at Rileys clubs and 50 players secured places in the tournament. Rileys Chief Executive Maurice Kelly said: "Congratulations to each of our qualifiers for their achievements in the Under-21 World Championship. The standard of play was exceptional – as you would expect in a tournament featuring the world’s best young darts talent. We look forwards to welcoming our stars back to their home town clubs."
