PLAYERS URGED TO GET THEIR NAMES IN THE HAT FOR THE “FA CUP OF DARTS”

The “FA Cup of darts” is officially open for amateur players to enter, UK Open sponsors Speedy can now confirm.

Any player hoping to realise a lifelong dream and play on one of the world’s most famous oches can now take their first steps by clicking on http://sports.speedyservices.com/ and registering for one of Speedy’s six qualifying events.

Once registered, players will embark on a 15 dart challenge with the highest 8 scores then playing a game of 501. Four winners will be found from each event.

Speedy, the UK’s leading provider of equipment and support services to construction, manufacturing, industrial, rail and related industries, enjoyed a highly successful sponsorship of last year^s UK Open in Bolton.

They are hoping that this year’s competition will be an even bigger success, with PDC star Mark Webster an official ambassador of the competition.

Four players qualify from each of the events in Brighton, Dartford, Inverness, Leeds, Stoke and Cardiff during April, with a final Speedy employee only qualifying event in Haydock on May 4.

Speedy Group Marketing Director Steve McIntyre said: “We can’t wait for the qualifiers to begin! We will be supported by Mark, who will be at our qualifiers offering tips to the players, and we really want as many people to enter as possible. By having a Speedy only exclusive event, we’re able to give something back to our colleagues across the business and really engage them in this fantastic competition. Employee engagement is extremely important as we know an engaged work force leads to better customer service and increased loyalty.”

The Speedy Services UK Open Qualifiers will be held on the following dates:

Wednesday April 4 - Brighton

Thursday April 5 - Dartford

Wednesday April 11 - Inverness

Thursday April 12 - Leeds

Friday April 13 - Stoke

Thursday April 19 - Cardiff

Friday May 4 - Haydock

In addition, 32 players will win through Rileys Qualifiers to compete in Bolton, with knockout events to be staged in Rileys Darts Zones during April and May. Details will be announced shortly for the Rileys Qualifiers.

Tickets are expected to go on sale at the start of April. Full information will be announced in due course once dates are confirmed.

(*Please note, Haydock event is Speedy employees only*)
