Defending champion Webster sent crashing by superb Walton
Mark Webster^s dream of retaining the Lakeside world darts title is over after he was thrashed 4-0 defeat by John ‘Boy’ Walton.
The 25-year-old trainee plumber could not stop the flow of amazing darts from the 2001 champion, who won on a bullseye with a 126 finish at Frimley Green.
Webster then revealed he might not leave the British Darts Organisation, despite being linked with a lucrative move to the rival Professional Darts Corporation.
After crashing out of the second round in just 38 minutes, he said: ‘I don’t know what I am going to do this year. At present I’d probably rule it out but things can change. I will always do what is best for Mark Webster.
^Everyone says the BDO is a stepping stone to the PDC but I do not see it like that. I need to get back to work and get back to reality.’
Walton, 47, is the No 15 seed and has found his top game again after a muscle injury in his throwing right arm.
He said: ‘I am enjoying the game again and I haven’t been because I have been in pain. This performance ranks nowhere at the moment until I lift that trophy.’
Walton now meets Ted ‘The Count’ Hankey, who beat Ross Montgomery 4-1.
Hankey said: ‘I don’t drink as much as I used to so I feel a lot brighter mentally and physically.
‘If you’ve had 12 or 13 pints and a couple of shorts, you are not going to be in charge of your emotions.’
Martin Adams is also through to the quarter-finals after beating Northern Ireland’s Daryl Gurney 4-2.
