Darts: Red Dragon Darts supports Deantown Youth Darts
Red Dragon Darts have helped the youth initiative run by darts player, Clark Beveridge of Whitecraig, who is trying to get young people interested in the sport of darts and getting them off the streets by doing something they can learn & enjoy.
Clark started the youth darts programme in the Porto cabin of Deantown Bowling Club several months ago and now has between 6-10 youngsters, both boys & girls, turning up each week, ranging from ages 11- 17.
They each pay 50 pence per player, to cover heating and lighting for the use of the premises. Musselburgh & District Darts League bought them 5 sets of tungsten darts to start off with, then the players can buy these darts paying up weekly, all of the money goes to re-stocking flights, stems and more darts.
At these nights they practice different darts games to cover all aspects of the game, from counting, scoring and hitting doubles.
Clark Beveridge and his son Darren, along with Mark Yuill now are now playing successfully for the Inveresk darts team in the Musselburgh league, hopefully when others are older, they can join teams within the league as well.
