DAVE CHISNALL completed a memorable weekend double with a 6-4 defeat of Justin Pipe to win Sunday^s Players Championship at the K2 Centre in Crawley.

The St Helens ace joined an elite band of players to win back-to-back PDC ProTour events over a weekend as he followed Saturday^s success against Ian White with a comeback win over Pipe.

Despite hitting finishes of 157 and 110, Chisnall found himself 4-2 down in the final, but the game turned in a key seventh leg, as Pipe missed three darts at double eight to move three legs clear.

Chisnall stepped in to hit the same bed to take the leg, punished three further misses from Pipe to level and then hit back-to-back 12-darters to claim victory.

"It^s a great achievement and I^m very proud," said Chisnall. "It feels fantastic and it means a lot to me.

"I^ve been putting in a lot of practice and that^s paying off.

"Justin^s a tough player and he played really well in the final, but when he missed those doubles I knew it was my chance. I was never worried, I just knew I had to keep hitting the trebles and I^d get a chance.

"I always knew I could do well in ProTours but this weekend has shown that. I^d love to go on and win the UK Open now in Bolton in a couple of weeks."

Chisnall had also come from behind in his win over Co Stompe earlier in the day, and defeated Terry Temple, Peter Wright, Kim Huybrechts and Keegan Brown in the event as he took his weekend^s prize money to £12,000.

The St Helens ace^s triumph was his third in Crawley, having also defeated Pipe in the final to claim his maiden Players Championship last November, while the win was also his third of 2012 as he moved up to 22nd in the PDC Order of Merit.

Pipe took home £3,000 after reaching his fifth final of the year, and continues his rise in the world rankings by climbing to 12th.

The Taunton thrower enjoyed wins over Devon Petersen, Arron Monk, Kevin Painter, Simon Whitlock and Raymond van Barneveld on the day in Crawley, as he continued the good form which saw him win the first European Tour event a month ago.

Isle of Wight teenager Keegan Brown reached the semi-finals for the first time on the professional circuit, defeating top ten players James Wade, Andy Hamilton and Terry Jenkins in claiming £2,000 prize money.

Van Barneveld, who also enjoyed a weekend double earlier this year, joined Brown in reaching the semi-finals, taking a 6-2 win over Mervyn King in the quarters.

Whitlock, Jenkins and Huybrechts also reached the last eight in the final Players Championship event to be held ahead of June^s Speedy Services UK Open in Bolton.

Final - Leg-By-Leg
Justin Pipe v Dave Chisnall

0-0 - Justin Pipe wins the bull and will throw first.
1-0 - Both players hit two 140s, with Pipe then missing double 18 for a 116 finish before Chisnall misses three darts to break, allowing his opponent back to land double 18.
1-1 - Pipe opens with 140 and 180 and leaves himself 32 after 12 darts, only to be denied a dart to break by a sensational 157 checkout from Chisnall.
2-1 - Pipe finishes 82 on tops to win the third leg.
2-2 - Pipe opens with a 180 but is unable to finish 139 and Chisnall takes out 110 on double 18 to level.
3-2 - Pipe again kicks off with a maximum, giving him the edge before Chisnall fires in a 180 of his own to leave 120, but Pipe takes the leg by finishing 76 on double 18.
4-2 - Pipe lands his fourth 180 of the game to leave 96 after nine darts, and finishes double 18 for a 12-darter to break throw.
4-3 - Chisnall breaks back, punishing three misses from Pipe at double eight by hitting the same bed to complete a two-dart 76 combination.
4-4 - Chisnall is first to a finish, but misses four darts at doubles to allow Pipe a chance after the Taunton ace hit a 180 to leave 34. Pipe, though, misses three darts at double 17 and Chisnall returns to hit double two to level.
4-5 - Chisnall scores 140, 134 and 180 before landing double ten for a 12-darter to break and move to the brink of victory.
4-6 - Chisnall opens with a 180 and leaves himself 85 after nine darts. Pipe fires in another maximum, but it comes in vain as Chisnall finishes 85 with an improvised treble 19, double 11, double three combination for back-to-back victories.
Final Match Averages: Justin Pipe 102.00, Dave Chisnall 100.87
