2012 PDC Q-School Roundup

The 6 players we predicted would get automatic cards actually all did, and our other tips were 10 out of 15 right as we didn’t actually have the full list when we made those predictions, that’s our excuse anyway!

The Q-School threw up some interesting names and none more so than the legend that is Les Wallace.

Les had 3 really tough draws and only just lost on the first 3 days, but Les then got all the way to the final match narrowly losing 6-5, but he deserved to scrape in 23rd out of 24 on the list of extra qualifiers.

From a strictly statistical point of view Les is not showing enough form to threaten much yet, but we really hope he does a Ritchie Burnett and comes back to form!

Les Wallace was brilliant player for many years in the 1990’s and it’s always great to have another former World Champion back on the Oche, so well done Les.

Going over the current form stats we can see that the Q-School boys will have a really tough job making the big events, and the only one who is ready and likely to get into all the big events is Dean Winstanley.

However, there are a lot of others who could do well as The West’s are street fighters, Stuart Kellet has big stage experience and Andrew Gilding is young and fearless.

The 2012 Q-School may represent a changing of the guard in the 64 – 32 positions, and certainly the top 16 off the pro-tour standings.
